A filling is used to replace tooth that has been destroyed by decay, wear or trauma. There are two main types of fillings which can be provided on the NHS which are amalgam and composite materials. Amalgam is a metallic in nature and has been used for over a hundred years. They are typically provided on the back teeth.
Composite is a white filling material which is used for all fillings on front teeth on the NHS and can be provided as an aesthetic alternative to silver fillings on your back teeth.
