A denture is a removable appliance used to replace missing teeth. There are lots of different types of dentures, made from acrylic or a combination of acrylic and metal, available on the NHS or privately. Private dentures are made from stronger materials and have an enhanced aesthetic such as including white clasps, to make them as natural looking as possible.
There are multiple visits involved in making dentures, as the dentist woks in conjunction with a dental laboratory to make a custom made appliance to fit your mouth.
New dentures always feel strange and it may take several weeks to get used to wearing them, denture you have had a denture before. Adaptation varies with different people, and the denture may require some adjustment if they cause any minor irritation to your gums from pressure spots.
