Welcome to Chu's Dental Care

Family Run Independent Dentist With 30 Years Experience

Chu's Dental Care is a family run independent NHS dental practice with the aim to provide dental care to Dunfermline and the surrounding areas. The practice has been established for over 30 years within the centre of Dunfermline town.

All patients are registered under the NHS, entitling them to a free check-up every six months and the full range of treatment available on the NHS.

In addition, treatment such as aesthetic crowns and bridges, tooth whitening and white fillings on back teeth are available privately.

We refer to both NHS and private specialists for advice and treatments such as orthodontic treatment, oral surgery and implants when required.

NHS dentists to reopen for URGENT CARE only:

The Chief Dental Officer has announced that NHS dentists can re-open to see their own patients who have a dental emergency.

Since lockdown began, our dentists have been taking calls from our patients and arranging emergency appointments at our local urgent care centres if appropriate. Treatment has been restricted to relief of pain and prevention of infection and this will continue for the next few weeks at least.

Routine care, such as check ups, hand scaling and denture work will not be available at this stage.

There is a risk to patients and dental staff when using dental equipment that generates an aerosol and this includes fillings, crown preparation and surgical or complex extractions. These procedures will still NOT be possible in dental practices in Scotland at this time. For patients who have an emergency that urgently requires one of these procedures, your dentist will make arrangements for you to be seen at the nearest Urgent Dental Care Centre where special precautions have been put in place.

It is really important to look after your teeth as well as possible at all times, but especially now. Restricting sugar containing foods to meal times and brushing twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste will help to keep your mouth healthy.

If you have a dental emergency our phone lines are open as usual Mon-Fri 9-5pm. Out of hours services remain unchanged (NHS 24, 111).

We will be in touch with our patients during the week of Monday 22nd June who have contacted us during lockdown with a dental problem to see how you are getting on and arrange an appointment if necessary starting from Monday 29th June.

Best wishes,

The team at Chu's Dental Care

Hello everyone

Thankyou for your patience whilst the dental practice has been closed physically to patients due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Scotland is preparing to move out of lockdown, we have been under instruction by the Chief Dental Officer to prepare for the practice reopening, for urgent care only, in phase 2. This is scheduled to begin no later than the 31st July although it is hoped to be sooner. Currently all acute emergency care will continue to be provided in Urgent Dental Care Centres. However, in the coming weeks they will be expanding the emergency treatment available. Please continue to contact us on 01383727771 during normal working hours Monday to Friday where a dentist will be available to triage your issue, give advice and refer as appropriate.
At present all appointments are cancelled until the end of June and we will be in touch once we have a timescale for the phased return of routine dental care
We hope everyone is staying safe and well and we look forward to seeing you in the future.
Best wishes
The team at Chu's Dental Care

All dental practices in Scotland are now CLOSED.

If you have a dental emergency please call us on 01383 727771 between 9am-5pm Mon-Fri to get advice, a remote prescription if appropriate or referred to the public dental service clinics if an appointment is required. (We are following strict guidance on who can be referred for an appointment so please be understanding )

Out of hours- please phone NHS 24 on 111 where they will be happy to advise you.

Thank you for bearing with us during these challenging times and we look forward to continuing your dental care in future.
Best wishes,
The team at Chu's Dental Care
